Hello Exalted Essentials,
We're still in the early stages of post-campaign progress, with lots of ground to cover, but in the final days of March 2022, so it's time for our regular month end update. Thanks to everyone's feedback last month, I've tweaked the presentation of the Pending Rewards list a bit further.
REWARDS STILL PENDING
Alt text: Our main book is in editing, our companion is in first draft, as are the three novellas. Outlining is underway for the other Stretch Goal PDF projects.
I've condensed the Exalted: Essence Deluxe Hardcover, PDF, and discounted Print-on-Demand purchase link to that single top line - it's all the same project, after all, just sent out in different stages. The list keeps a little more manageable like this.
Dixie has a note on the The Essence companion: Moving into first drafts! I’m so excited, and can’t wait to expand on the Charms, Martial Arts, and Setting from the core book.
Dixie also has a note on the three novellas, which are now in first draft stage: I am always excited to read our Exalted fiction, and I’m sure the three novellas in the works from the Essence Kickstarter are going to be rad! (No pressure, authors!)

Rich has modified the way he's running the Project Tracking this year. At the end of each month, Onyx Path will be posting an update showing the current status of all of their projects and where each sits on the project tracking chart. In the weekly Monday Meeting Notes blogs, Rich will note any projects that have changed status, sometimes with developer notes, since the big monthly summary.
I will continue to post regular updates every other month until those final Stretch Goal rewards have gone out.

February 2022 Update

Hello Exalted Essentials,
We're in the final week of February, and I'm sending out our monthly Exalted updates today. I'm trying something new in terms of summarizing our long list of projects that are in the works, so please have patience with me as I refine it over the upcoming months. I'm hoping a quick graphic image can show our progress, but I'm not skilled at design and it falls a little flat with our long list on this one. But, still, we'll try it out and workshop it a bit over the year.
I should note that my terrible graphics skill shouldn't reflect on any design for Exalted: Essence, which will be quite amazing, I'm sure, because I have nothing to do with that!!

Manuscript Progress Stages
A) Contracts & Outlines - Writers are hired, an outline is created, reviewed, and approved.
B) First Draft - Writers turn in their initial draft
C) Redlines - Developers make notes and inform writers of desired changes
D) Second / Final Draft - Writers turn in subsequent drafts based on developer Redlines and ongoing feedback
E) Development - Developers tie everything together and make any desired final changes
F) Manuscript Review & Approval - The developed manuscript is reviewed by Content Leads, In-House Developers, Creative Director, and possibly License Holders for final approval
G) Post-Approval Development - If changes are requested or additional miscellaneous development needed
H) Editing - Editors check for typos, nomenclature, and formatting errors
I) Post-Editing Development - Additional approval and minor fixes from Developers
J) Indexing - Larger rulebooks have a comprehensive index created, after any layout adjustments are made
Production Progress Stages
1) Art Direction - Art notes are collected from developers, and artists are hired according to the needs of the line and book.
2) Layout - Typeface, coloration, and art are chosen, added to the manuscript text, and laid out for visual appeal
3) Proofing - The final book layout is checked over by the art director, creative director, and sometimes the developer to make sure everything appears as it should.
4) Release Prep - The product is prepared for print/digital release
5) Print Proofing - test prints are reviewed and approved
6) At Press - Offset print runs have begun, or Print-on-Demand books are made available to order
I've moved a couple things around so that it's a bit easier to track what's going on, and a couple bits aren't quite listed (for example, we will get Discounted Print-on-Demand options for the Exalted: Essence PDF, the Jumpstart PDF, the Ready-Made Characters PDF, and the Adventure Scenario Trilogy PDF, but that's sort of incorporated into those listings now). It's also a bit of a cheat because the first three items listed are all really the same contents - the Exalted: Essence book. The difference between those will be reflected more on the Production side when it comes to final design.
I don't know that I'll list all of the stages broken out in future updates, since it's a lot of text to explain an image that's supposed to be a quick summary of where we stand, but that's why it's a work-in-progress.
Anyway... while our main book is still in Editing, Contracts have been signed with two of our novella writers so far (so outlines can be submitted for approval). The team is currently outlining the Jumpstart, the Ready-Made Characters, and the Adventure Scenario Trilogy. I can say that the outline for the Exalted: Essence Companion has already been approved, so forward progress there!
Bit by bit it's all being worked on, and we'll see this image go green across the board as we work through this campaign.

Hello Exalted Essentials,
Welcome to the first update of 2022. This is going to be a year of incremental progress, as Onyx Path's creative team slowly moves this project along the progress track toward eventual delivery to backers. If you look back at the estimated delivery dates from the campaign, you'll know that we're still quite some time away from seeing many of the fruits of these labors, but I'll continue to post our rewards list at the end of each month and note the production phase of each project where available and provide more information as needed.

Checking out those updates, I see that our ExEss book is in the Editing phase and the Art Buy has been figured out. So still moving forward, but a long path ahead. I will continue to post an update each month until every reward has gone out.

Well, 2021 may have been a bit of a drag in a few ways, but it brought us this campaign and this new take on Exalted Third Edition. We're still in the early stages of this project, but it sets up a foundation for many great things ahead. ONYX PATH CROWDFUNDING IN 2021
Another challenging year. While there were some moments of taking two steps forward and one step back, at least there was some forward momentum. Onyx Path spent the previous year restructuring and adapting their processes to better function during the pandemic, but still external issues presented (and continue to present) challenges. Paper shortages, manufacturing difficulties, shipping and storage problems. The new normal.
Despite all of that, Onyx Path was able to get some products out, at least digitally, during the year.
While the massive paper shortage and manufacturing issues kept many of these from seeing print in 2021, they're all currently scheduled to attain physical form in early 2022. Here's hoping the process keeps moving forward and we can finally ship these rewards. Even with that caveat, that's still a pretty impressive list of stuff that's out and available to play.
Another solid year and another batch of fun and interesting projects added to Onyx Path's future release list. In supporting these during the crowdfunding phase, we've also managed to add these extra projects to the schedule:
